Guitar Teacher Dan Pokorni

Dan began his musical journey by taking piano lessons at the age of 7. He picked up the guitar at age 14, studying with various teachers in the Chicago area. Finding himself drawn to both acoustic and electric styles, he took both classical and jazz guitar in college. When a retiring professor turned over to Dan his roster of private guitar students, the first steps on a new path as a guitar instructor had begun. While building up his teaching practice, Dan began playing with several rock and Top 40 bands.

After graduating from Northeastern Illinois University with a degree in music education, a desire to explore the world of songwriting and recording led to a year of study at the Berklee College of Music. Dan produced a CD of guitar instrumental music (GUITARSCAPES) in 2006. The track "Shakir" received an honorable mention in the VH1 Song of the Year contest and the CD was reviewed in 20th Century Guitar magazine.

In 2009, Dan released a 9-song vocal rock CD called MEN WHO LISTEN in which he worked with his first renowned producer, Gary Loizzo from Styx. He produced a second 4-song EP with Gary in 2011 called MEN WHO LISTEN 2. Beginning work on the third MWL CD in 2012, Dan was invited to work with Stuart Epps of Elton John and Led Zeppelin fame. Canaan Gillihan

Guitar, Piano & Bass Teacher Canaan Gillihan

Guitar, Piano & Bass Teacher Canaan Gillihan

Canaan is currently a senior at Columbia College Chicago and is working towards earning his Bachelor's degree in Music Composition. Canaan found his initial love for music when he was given a bass guitar by a family friend at age 13. He began by learning the bass riffs to his favorite rock songs and hasn't looked back since. Over time, his musicianship only grew as he began to play in his church worship group, played the bass in his high school band and began to study music theory at community college.

Now at 22-years-old, Canaan is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, is fluent in recording and scoring softwares and is currently a private lesson instructor at a music school in the Naperville. He has a strong passion for sharing his love of music with his students and passing down his knowledge of both musical instrument and theory in his lessons. Because of his versatile music experience, he knows what it is like to play with bands and other performers as well as to play by yourself, whether it be composing or practicing until proficient.

If you are in need of a guitar, piano or bass instructor and/or are interested in learning the theory behind music, then Canaan is the instructor for you.
